One of the hallmarks of the Onyx style is to perform music of the
18th and early 19th century as if it had been composed yesterday. With
improvisational flourishes, gestures, and conventions of the period,
Onyx brings a freshness and vitality to these Classical works. As Onyx has expanded their repertoire into the 19th and 20 century, they
approach these pieces through the lens of the previous era looking
forward, as opposed to the present era looking back. Onyx performances
illuminate the new and revolutionary elements of these later works.
